Mahjong 4 Friends offers the opportunity to enjoy a thrilling game of mahjong with your friends or AI opponents. The app supports various versions of mahjong, including American, Chinese, Hong Kong, and British Mahjong.

While playing the game, Mahjong 4 Friends provides helpful instructions in small yellow bubbles. For those who wish to delve deeper into the rules and strategies, the app includes a comprehensive tutorial. To give you a glimpse, here are summaries of the rules for each version:

<li>American Mahjong Rules (from NMJL card):
 <ul>
 <li>One right, across, left charleston round (0-3 tiles left)</li>
 <li>If all 4 players agree, One left, across, right charleston round (0-3 tiles right)</li>
 <li>One charleston pass across (0-3 tiles)</li>
 <li>Mahjong when matching a combination on the card.</li> 
 <li>Jokers can only be used in matches of 3 or more tiles.</li> 
 <li>Any player can swap a matching tile for exposed jokers.</li>
 </ul>
</li>
<li>Chinese/British/Hong Kong Rules:
 <ul>
 <li>4 pongs/kongs and a pair are mahjong</li>
 <li>Sequences can be used to replace a pong/kong</li>
 <li>An optional charleston is provided</li>
 <li>Mahjong and sequence limitations can be overridden (to help you play by your rules!)</li>
 </ul>

If you prefer playing with your friends using an American Mahjong card, you can select "Other Card" within the app. Scoring is supported on the 2022, 2021, and 2020 National Mahjongg League cards, as well as the 2023, 2022, and 2021 Marvelous Mah Jongg cards.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to play a game:

<li>Select either Single Player or Multiplayer mode</li>
</ol>
If you choose Single Player mode, click "New Game," configure your game settings, and start playing!
If you opt for Multiplayer mode, create a room and send the link to invite other players. Then configure your game settings and begin!
